Baby X

Baby X

One of the most touching items in the museum collection is a little velvet baby-‘kappie’ with a stab-wound, surrounded by blood stains, on its back. No-one knows where it came from, or who the unfortunate baby was. We only know that it was one of the very first donations the museum received, back in 1910 (when museumworkers unfortunately did not always keep very good records).
